Crushpad Custom Winery

tracy — Thu, 04/19/2007 - 08:40

Crushpad is a custom winery in San Francisco, CA. They enable individuals and restaurants to come up with custom wines by purchasing grapes for customers, aiding the customers in coming up with custom blends, and bottling and shipping the wine to the customers. In addition, they create several barrels that customers can later adopt if they come in after the most recent harvest. While it's not cheap (barrel adoption is between $5,000 and $10,000 a barrel), it's a lot cheaper than owning your own winery.

O Holy Night

tracy — Wed, 12/13/2006 - 11:44

I'm not sure how many of you watch the NBC show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. We watch it every week, and recently they aired an episode which brought home the issues faced by many displaced musicians from New Orleans. In the show, people noticed that show musicians were suddenly calling in sick to give musicians from New Orleans the chance to make a paycheck before Christmas. I thought it was a really cool story and it turns out that the show itself hired real musicians from New Orleans to do the taping.

You can download the MP3 of 'O Holy Night' along with other music from the show at the NBC website.

A site to share family stories

tracy — Thu, 10/19/2006 - 11:40

GrandpaTellMe.com

With a website from GrandpaTellMe.com you can record and share family memories, keep in touch with family members and pass on family histories. In addition you can schedule family events, create family scrapbooks and exchange files of any type. All of this within a secure, password protected environment.

Although the name is a bit strange, the site is pretty useful for family historians. It allows users to share calendars, news, photos, histories, and files with group members. In beta, the current version allows one to upload a total of 20MB monthly and use a total of 50MB of disk space.

Aparently, I'm a radical dissident

tracy — Thu, 09/21/2006 - 08:47

For those of you who may be wondering what in the world I'm talking about, a fellow alumnus of Dartmouth College, Peter Fahey '68, wrote an op-ed that was published in today's Dartmouth. Five Reasons to Vote, and Vote "Yes"

In this article, he calls those who are against the new constitution, radical dissidents. He also uses this name to refer to the 3 trustees of the college who ran as petition candidates. Already, I can tell this is a well-written and scholarly work.

In addition to name-calling, his five reasons for why I should vote for the new constitution can be roughly translated into this:
