Adjusting to Life with out "The Commute"

So far, so good. Granted the bus that takes me to work looks like it will occassionally be late picking me up, but I won't actually arrive at work late. And I've got to say, I'm digging the 20 minute bus ride (well at least versus the 1 1/2 to 2 hour each way journey).

At work today, they were wondering what I was doing to fill those hours and, well so far, not much. Yesterday I did some more unpacking after I got home and this morning I slept in a little and did some small tasks around the house (like finding my keys :-). Tonight will probably be more of the same. I'm also looking forward to having home-cooked meals again since we've been eating out most nights for the past month. It will also be a lot nicer once the house is more set up and once the interweb is up and running again. Then it will definitely be happy days again and even happier since I will have 3 hours of my life back each day.

Over all, I also have to say that I'm digging the new apartment. Once I find my digital camera I'll take some pictures and post them. It's a nice two bedroom on the third floor of an apartment building. It has a kitchen, dining area, living room, 2 bedrooms, and a bathroom. When we first got there on Wednesday, it felt really small and I was worried maybe our stuff wouldn't fit. But once the furniture and boxes all arrived, I felt a ton better. Having an actual second bedroom is really nice. We took the smaller of the two for our room but it fits the bed and dressers quite nicely. The larger room will be a combination guest bedroom and study, most likely with a full size bed and a futon couch. We're still figuring out what to do about the kitchen/dining area because this kitchen is definitely smaller than our old one with fewer cabinets and we have a ton of kitchen stuff. We basically have two options. First, we could move the table to part of the living room and put shelving into the dining area for the overflow. The other solution would be to put storage in part of the living room for the overflow and keep the table in the dining area. Tough choices I know. But I'm sure we'll figure it all out.
