Claria And Root Form Partnership

The sites/tracy.hurleyit.com/files/img_thumbnails is not writeable

Could it ever happen? I think it could. In theory. John Lee just shot me this article, which at the very least, I found to be interesting on multiple levels. For one, it’s Claria. Claria as in Gator Claria. Arguably the very company that invented ad-ware and spy-ware, and somehow along the way, turned it into a giant and profitable business while morphing from an ad-ware company, into a “behavioral targeting” company. Second, this idea seems to be running oddly parallel to what the boys and girls over at Root are doing in the “attention space”. If ever the twain should meet, this could be one of the more bizarre pairings this side of Seacrest and Hatcher. Now I am not saying that Claria and Root will become partners anytime soon, but stranger things have happened. It certainly it wouldn’t shock me if sometime down the road, Seth and Scott shook hands over some sort of partnership, or if Ed and AttentionTrust blessed the company that was once public enemy number one for Lavasoft. It isn’t SO far fetched that this could well become a case of hacker turned sys admin, where the bad guy uses his knowledge of the streets to help the cops fight crime, and everyone lives happily ever after. And just a side thought…$40 Million and funding aside, couldn’t the basic idea behind PersonalWeb be replicated with some sharp programmers, a case of Red Bull, and the Root API? Homepagr anyone?
