Another Use for Del.icio.us

The sites/tracy.hurleyit.com/files/img_thumbnails is not writeable

tracy — Wed, 01/11/2006 - 12:51

In addition using del.icio.us as a research log, I have found yet another use for the site. Using the aggregator2 module for Drupal, I can add items from my del.icio.us rss feed as a node to my site, allowing me to kill two birds with one stone. In addition, once it's on my site, it gives my visitors a chance to see and comment on what I find interesting and important, without any additional work on my part.

I hope other social networking sites pick up on this idea. For instance, I am a member of a number of such sites, including one for my alma mater, Dartmouth College. Many of these sites allow me to add events and even have my own blog. But the problem is that I don't have enough time to keep 5 blogs up-to-date; I barely have enough time to keep this site updated. It would be great if I could take items I post here and syndicate them (through RSS) to my other blogs. This would be a plus for me because I wouldn't have to do a ton of work to get my ideas out there. This would be a plus for my friends, since regardless of which site they decide to use, they can easily view my posts. This would be a plus for the site as my friends are more likely to just stay on the networking site and read my content there rather than follow a link to find it here.
