They made Hawkeye in the show, the character of Trapper from the book, and they could have just made Trapper the character of Hawkeye, basically like the movie, but for some reason they decided to throw the cheating aspect of Duke into Trapper as well, I guess to make it more fun for him to be with Hawkeye, but wasnt really necessary.
